Smartphone makers prove over and over again that you no longer have to pay tons of money for decent specs. Gone are the times when a cheap phone equaled weak hardware, bad software and generally poor performance. Now you can choose from dozens of smartphones offered at budget-friendly prices with specs you wouldn’t even dream of a few years ago. The latest example is the ZTE Warp 7 Android smartphone which is now available through Boost Mobile priced at under $100, or $99 to be more precise.

ZTE Warp 7

Boost Mobile just added a new Android smartphone to its portfolio. The device offers a massive battery and large HD screen, yet it’s very affordable.

As you might have guessed from the name, the ZTE Warp 7 had a few predecessors. The origins of the lineup date way back to 2011 when the ZTE Warp marked the beginning of partnership between ZTE and Boost Mobile and then was followed by four other models. The Warp 7 is actually the 6th member of the series and offers by far the best specs-to-price ratio.

What can you can expect for less than $100? For starters, a large 5.5-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and offering HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution. Powering the phone is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor assisted by 2GB of RAM and there’s 16GB of internal memory plus microSD slot if you need more storage for music, video or photos.

Speaking of photos, the Warp 7 is equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. And let’s not forget about the huge 3,080 mAh battery. In fact, it’s one of the phone’s strongest features, since the capacity of the battery is larger than what a number of flagship devices can offer. Moreover, the battery is removable and comes with Quick Charge technology. The Warp 7 ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

The handset should play nice with Boost Mobile’s new Unlimited Unhook’d plan. The recently announced plan costs $50 per month, though you can save $5 per month if you opt for Auto Re-Boost (automatic payment). The includes unlimited talk, text and 4G LTE data and has a special feature which optimizes video to 480p and allows for unlimited music streaming at up to 500Kbps.

The ZTE Warp 7 and the new plan are available at Boost Mobile’s website.
