Last week ZTE, a China-based mobile manufacturer, started accepting pre-orders on the Axon phone, a high-end Android smartphone targeting at the States. Now, the Axon line is getting another member, the Axon Watch. Looking like a traditional watch the new wearable features sapphire coating and IP67 certification for safe water immersion.
ZTE Axon Watch packs classic style, gesture control and IP67 certification
Being a great improvement over the last year’s ill-fated, unhandy ZTE BlueWatch, the Axon Watch comes with a redefined approach to external design and hardware. Taking the form of a conventional watch with round face and leather strap, the new ZTE smartwatch sports a 1.4-inch 400x400p AMOLED Gorilla Glass 3 touch screen additionally protected by extremely durable sapphire coating.
Powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage, the device debuts with the wearable version of Tencent OS on board. Consequently, as you probably noticed, strangely enough, although the Axon phone is oriented on the US market, the Axon Watch is designed to fit Chinese market’s standards. Perhaps, in the near future the company will release an international variant of the smartwach that will offer Android Wear.
Other specs include a 300 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, voice and gesture control and support for phone calls and messaging. Additionally, equipped with fitness tracking functions, like for instance a heart rate monitor, the Axon Watch will definitely meet needs of all outdoor activity fans, especially when the smartwatch is labeled with the IP67 certification tag for water and dust resistance.
As for the watch’s pricing details they still haven’t been officially announced. Assuming that the Axon Watch will eventually hit the US shore, will you be potentially interested in wearing one around your wrist?
