2013 is apparently a very busy year for ZTE company. Six phones: Nubia Z5, Grand S, U956, V987, Blade C and Grand Memo, launched in such a short period of time is a lot, and it seems that the company has not done announcing new smartphones yet. Meet the ZTE Grand X Pro aka V983. The phone was leaked last year in November and back then many thought that the Grand X Pro and the Grand S were one and the same device. Now it is clear they are not.

Let’s start with the highlights of the phone, and one of them is certainly the 4.5-inch 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution LCD panel and 1.2 GHz Cortex A9-based dual-core MediaTek MT6577T processor powering the handset. Worth mentioning is also 1 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera, dual SIM capabilities, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, microSD support and a 2,000 mAh battery.
Unfortunately, there are also a few disappointing specs. The ZTE Grand X Pro runs Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and offers only 4 GB of internal memory, which is not much by today’s standards. Also, the handset is 0.37-inch (9.4 mm) thick and weights 5.1 ounces (145 grams) what makes the device bit chunky.
On the bright side it comes in a variety of colors, such as black, light blue, red, yellow and metallic blue. The company has not disclosed any information on pricing and availability, but we suspect that the handset may not arrive at US shore.
