Almost every smartphone maker is now working on a 5-inch phablet with 1080p Full High Definition display and in this case Chinese manufacturer – ZTE is no different. We already heard quite a lot about the Nubia Z5, which was officially announced two days ago, and of course the Grand S, which creates lots of excitement lately. With CES 2013 being right around the corner, where the ZTE Grand S is set to be unveiled, more and more details about the handset are making their way to the Web.
Previous leaks suggested that the ZTE Grand S may be 0.3-inch thick (7.6 mm), which would be pretty slim anyway, and now we know that it is even slimmer – 0.27-inch (6.9 mm) to be more exact. The handset will feature a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel touch screen and a 13 megapixel rear camera. We know it is true, because these particular details have been made available to the Chinese media by ZTE itself.
Other than that we have just speculations and none of them have been officially confirmed. The ZTe Grand S is rumored to come with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (APQ8064) processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a 2,500 mAh battery. Android 4.1 is said to be installed out of the box. Price tag for the Grand S is rumored at ¥2,799 which would be $450. If this turns out to be true, it will be significantly cheaper than the Nubia Z5, which is very similar in terms of specs.
