Howdy T-Mobile fans! The magenta network has just added to its portfolio a new smartphone for budget-conscious users, the ZTE Concord II. The phone is now for sale at carrier’s store for a price of $150 without contract. If T-Mobile is not your choice for a carrier, you will be happy to know that the Concord II also will be coming to Metro PCS, though you will have to wait until May 19th to get your hands on it.
ZTE Concord II Phone for T-Mobile
As you might have guessed from the name, the ZTE Concord II running on T-Mobile’s prepaid network is a successor to the ZTE Concord which was released back in 2012. The phone is an entry-level device, though it offers a few interesting features. For starters, the Concord II has a metal band wrapping around the edges which makes it more durable than an average smartphone. According to ZTE, the Concord II should work just fine even after 64 drops to concrete floor from the height of 4.92 feet (1.5 meter). On a side note, we are wondering how the company came up with such a number and if the 65th fall is going to be fatal.
Another strong point is the operating system installed on the device. The Concord II ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which may not be the latest version of the platform, but it comes in near stock flavor. The only modifications include subtle tweaks to a few of the app icons, which is nothing compared to what some manufacturers can do to our favorite OS.
Other than that, the ZTE Concord II is a typical low-end smartphone equipped accordingly to its price. The phone sports a 4-inch display with 800 x 480 resolution and Gorilla Glass 2.0 and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. At the back sits a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, LED flash and 720p video capture. There is no front-facing camera, though. Other features include 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, microSD support for up to 32 GB cards, dual-microphone with noise suppression, and 1,820 mAh battery capable of delivering up to 6 hours of talk time, or over 250 hours of standby time.
