Released last year the ZTE Axon Pro came as a big surprise to all of us. Although a smartphone combining high-end technology with a competitive price tag wasn’t a new idea, it was the very first ZTE premium smartphone that targeted the States. Today the China-based company unveiled the next phone in its premium line. Dubbed ZTE Axon 7 the device features high-performance, attractive design and an competitive price tag.

Created in partnership with BMW’s designers the Axon 7 comes dressed in a full-aluminum unibody with a slightly curved edge finish making the device fir perfectly in one’s hand. The phone will be available in two color options: Ion Gold and Quartz Grey. But, the Axon 7 isn’t just a good-looker as the phones delivers its potential users with specs so powerful that any of the recent flagship won’t be ashamed of.
The front panel of the phone houses a massive 5.5-inch AMOLED display with QHD resolution, two BoomSound speaker grills located above and beneath the screen and a selfie-oriented 8MP front snapper. To enhance audio experience ZTE equipped the Axon 7 with a dedicated AKM Hi-Fi audio chipset and an amplifier chip supporting DAC quality. Going deeper into the optics, except for a sharp front-facing shooter the handset delivers a stunning 20MP primary camera employing Samsung’s ISOCELL sensor and sapphire lens with a dual LED flash, OIS and phase-detection auto-focus capable to record 4K videos. Your photos may be even better thanks to variety of modes including, manual, slow-motion and long-exposure ones.
Below the rear camera sensor there sits a fingerprint sensor – a feature found in the majority of recently launched flagships. When it comes to computing powers the Axon 7 is driven by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.2GHz used among others by the modular LG G5, Galaxy S7 or HTC 10. This means that the phone will cope with anything you throw on it, delivering smooth multitasking mode. As for RAM and storage, the handset will be accessible in two variants: one with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, the second with impressive 6GB RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage. Both models support microSD card expansion and accept cards up to 128GB. On the software side, The ZTE Axon 7 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MiFavor UI 4.0 interface installed on the top.
Meanwhile, the whole thing is kept ticking by a non-removable 3,140 mAh battery that due to Quick Charge 3.0 technology is able to achieve 50 percent of power in just 30-minute long charging.
Pricing and availability
Last but definitely not least, the ZTE Axon 7 is already available in its home market of China. The device will soon spread to global markets including US where it will be distributed by ZTE online store, Amazon, eBuy, BestBuy, B&H and Newegg. Sold unlocked the US variant of the phone will be compatible with all four major US carriers. As for pricing, the standard model of the phone is said to cost something round $450. But if you opt for the 6GB RAM version you will need to spend $640 to get one. To make the deal even sweeter ZTE adds a 2-year warranty covering drops and screen damages to each purchase of the device.
