It seems that this year’s IFA is going to belong to Sony, or at least that’s our assumption based on countless leaks regarding the company’s upcoming products. It appears that in addition to the much anticipated Xperia Z3 smartphone and a smaller Xperia Z3 Compact model, the company will also unveil the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and… a smartwatch. And we think so, because the tablet was spotted in a picture along with a new smartwatch we haven’t seen before.
Sony to unveil at IFA new tablet and smartwatch
The photo shows Sony’s new tablet being used near a pool and having a few drops of water on the screen which clearly hints that it will be water-resistant. Not that it’s that much of a surprise, since most devices released by Sony lately come with high IP certification. The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is expected to be quite powerful offering.
Rumored specs mention 3 GB of RAM, an 8-inch (hence Compact) TRILUMINOS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, an 8-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera, as well as LTE radio and support for NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. Powered by Snapdragon 801 chip, the slate is also said to sport 16 GB of internal memory and up to 5,000 mAh battery.
As for the smartwatch, we can’t say much about it at the moment. Since it leaked in one picture with the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact it’s only logical that the watch would be compatible with the tablet and likely with the rest of Sony’s upcoming devices. The watch runs Android Wear and it’s also possible that it’s water-resistant. Technical details, however, remain unknown for now.
What’s also interesting about the photo is that it was posted by Sony itself on the company’s Facebook page which adds credibility to the image. Probably it was a mistake on someone’s part, but the fact remains that we got to see Sony’s new tablet and a smartwatch to boot. IFA is just a few days away, so it appears that we won’t have to wait long for details regarding both, the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and the mysterious smartwatch.
