With the exception of the Nokia Lumia lineup, the vast majority of smartphones typically come in rather boring black and white color options. Grey and silver are also pretty popular, but other colors are not as easy to come by. That’s why when we hear of a smartphone that is dressed in purple, it’s kind of a big deal, at least for those who like to stand out in the crowd. So, here it goes – the Sony Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond Edition just went official featuring several custom Disney themes.
Sony Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond Edition
The new Sony Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond Edition sports black front and purple back panel and sides. Aside from a new color of the outfit, the device doesn’t bring any improvements in terms of hardware. User will still get the same 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display which offers a respectable 424pp pixel density, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 chip clocked at 2.5GHz, 3GB of RAM and at least 16GB of expandable storage.
Other key features of the Sony Xperia Z3 include a 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS sensor with 4K video recording, stereo speakers, noise cancellation, 3,100 mAh battery and IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
What sets the Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond Edition apart from other color options is that it comes pre-loaded with Disney content, including themes from the box office hit animation Frozen. This special content includes not only such stuff as wallpapers, but it also appears in apps, for example the camera software. Speaking of software, the new edition, just like the regular model, will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat on board with Sony’s proprietary Xperia theme on top.
The phone was unveiled earlier today by Sony’s Hong Kong division and this is where it will be available, at least in the beginning. Sony didn’t disclose when and if the purple Xperia Z3 would ever make it to regions other than Hong Kong. In its home market, the device will be sold for HK$4,998 which would be more or less $645 if the phone was offeres in the US. It will arrive at stores later this month.
