March 14 is definitely going to be an important day in the world of technology and this is not only because the Samsung Galaxy S IV will be officially unveiled in New York City. On the other side of the world, in Goa, India, XOLO is planning to introduce its premium handset with Intel Atom processor believed to be the “fastest smartphone ever with Intel inside”. The successor to the X900 will not be XOLO’s first smartphone with Intel processor though.
XOLO smartphone to be unveiled on Thursday
Both companies have worked before to release phones powered by Intel, but the mysterious device set to be unveiled on Thursday will come with a CPU belonging to the new Clover Trail+ lineup announced at World Mobile Congress last month in Barcelona. The processor will be available in three versions: 2.0 GHz (Z2580), 1.6 GHz (Z2560) and 1.2 GHz (Z2520). The chip will support full HD resolutions up to 1900 x 1200 pixels, up to a 2 megapixel camera in the front, up to 16 megapixel for the main shooter and have HSPA+ 42Mbps modems. Unfortunately, the Clover Trail+ series won’t support 4G LTE connectivity.
As far as graphics is concerned, there will be two PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPUs for flawless performance. As for the looks, the small photo attached to the invites to the media does not reveal much. All we can see is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a power/lock button and what appears to be an LED notification light, though it might as well be a glow on the shiny surface. We will know more when we see the phone at the event which is just a few days away.
