Previous rumors suggested that the Xiaomi Mi3 (which is short for MiPhone 3) would be announced on September 5th and the company didn’t disappoint us. The phone was officially introduced to the world today at a product event in Beijing. The device will go on sale in October and will be available from two carriers in China, China Mobile and China Unicom. Other confirmed markets that will offer the handset include Hong Kong and Taiwan. The Mi3 will be price at 1999 Yuan ( or about $327) for the 16 GB model and 2499 Yuan ( around $408) for 64 GB of storage.

The Xiaomi Mi3 phone will be released in two versions, each equipped with a different processor. The model for China Mobile will be powered by a 1.8 GHz Tegra 4 with four Cortex-A15 cores, while China Unicom’s version will be driven by a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 with four Krait 400 cores. Save for the chip, both version are identical. The Mi3 is a handsome device measuring 144 x 72 x 8.1 mm. Despite its size, the phone is rather lightweight tipping the scales at just 145 g.
The handset packs a 5-inch 1080p IPS display with a pixel density of a generous 441ppi and offers 2 GB of RAM. The Mi3 also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, which is becoming a standard in high-end phones. The secondary camera sports a 2-megapixel sensor. Other features include a 3050 mAh battery, Cirrus Logic and Dirac HD stereo sound, USB OTG, Bluetooth 4.0, WI-FI Direct, Mirracast, built-in NFC, and enhanced GPS navigation. The phone runs Android 4.2.1 with MI skin on top.
