When you look at the smartphone market, you can clearly see two major tactics manufacturers and retailers use to encourage customers to buy their phones. When it comes to high-end devices, the main focus is on adding new features and revolutionary solutions. Lower-end phones, however, are all about affordability. You can find a selection of smart devices costing around $35, but even that little can be considered expensive compared to Walmart’s latest offerings. The retailer is now selling LG Android smartphones priced at under 10 dollars.
Deal on $10 Android Phones by LG
To be more precise, the devices cost $9.82 which is probably the lowest price tag a smartphone ever had. Walmart is offering two devices – the TracFone LG Lucky LG16 and the TracFone LG L15G Sunrise. The phones come with different names but are in fact identical in terms of specs. The only difference is that one runs on GSM networks while the other model is destined for CDMA carriers. Other than that, they are the same.
What exactly less than $10 can buy you? For starters, you will get a tiny (at least compared to an average smartphone size of this era) screen that measures 3.8 inches and offers 480×320 resolution. Moreover, powering the phones is the same dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 chipset and both come with merely 4GB of built-in storage. Luckily there is a microSD slot compatible with up to 32GB cards so the lack of room for content shouldn’t be an issue. Both phones are also equipped with 3-megapixel rear cameras and have 1540mAh batteries whichare expected to provide up to 7 hours of talk time or up to 9.9 days of standby time. Android 4.4 KitKat is running the show in both cases.
The list of specs says it all – both phones are as basic as can be, with no front-facing cameras and an operating system which is two generations behind. However, even though the hardware is extremely modest and the platform is not exactly up to date, the LG Lucky and LG sunrise are still smartphones which means that you will get access to Google Play with thousands of apps for entertainment and productivity on the go. If you are looking for a super affordable phone to keep in touch with friends and family, check email every now and then or update social network, the handsets will get the job done for less than $10.
