NVIDIA unveiled yesterday its next-generation mobile processor – Tegra 4, ahead of the CES 2013 rush. Company announced that its new chip delivers four times faster processing performance of its predecessor Tegra 3 and will be among the fastest processors available on the market. Inside the Tegra 4 is a quad-core CPU with an extra “low-power core” that cuts power consumption to help extend battery life. The first tablet with the new processor will be Vizio, which is exposed at CES dubbed as Vizio Tegra 4.
The Vizio Tegra 4 is a 10-inch tablet with ultra-light body equipped with a high resolution display of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, which puts it on par with Google Nexus 10. The tablet will be offered with 32GB of on board storage, front and rear cameras, common set of ports and with standard connectivity choices like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 4.0.
Vizio’s tablet, beside the NVIDIA Tegra 4 SoC, will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box. It seems that Vizio is interested in making a hot comeback to the tablet business with a very appealing tablet that’s ready to take on the Nexus 10.
Pricing and availability are not disclosed yet.
