Verizon Wireless is the only one of the big US carriers that still has not offered the HTC One. So far, Big Red did not even provide a launch date so we could finally start the countdown. Last month Verizon confirmed via its official Twitter account that it will start carrying the HTC One later this summer, however, did not go into details about the exact release date, pricing or possible hardware or software changes.
Verizon to launch HTC One “this summer”
Chances are that “this summer” will happen in the not so distant future. A render of the Verizon version of the HTC One has showed up on the web. It is a clear sign that things are in progress and we soon may be treated to another announcement, hopefully with more details.
Unsurprisingly, the phone pictured in the render looks identical to the units offered by AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. The only difference is Verizon’s distinctive 4G LTE logo on the status bar and a modified home screen.
If we were to play a guessing game, we would say that the HTC One could land on Verizon on September 5, since this is the date displayed on the screen. There are known cases when the on-screen date of HTC handset renders referred to actual launch date. However, we would not bet our money on September 5. After all September is closer to fall than “this summer”.
