ZTE Open Firefox OSThe ZTE Open running Firefox OS has already debuted in several countries including Spain, Colombia and Venezuela. The phone is cheap, it costs $79.99 off contract on eBay US, and £59.99 in the UK.

ZTE OpenThe ZTE Open will not be headed to any carrier in particular. The phone will be available unlocked, which means that it should work perfectly well with whatever service provide you choose. The ZTE Open is different than other smartphones in a way that it is based on open web standards for all functionality and applications. The ZTE Open is a lower-end device aimed at first-time smartphone users looking for a reliable handset at a cheap price.

Being an entry-level phone, the ZTE Open comes with specs typical for this segment. The handset features a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 256 MB of RAM, and 512 MB of internal memory expandable via microSD slot. The phone is also equipped with a 3.2-megapixel rear camera.

The device comes pre-loaded with Firefox Web browser, Nokia HERE maps and butli-in integration with Facebook and Twister. More apps can be found at the Firefox Marketplace. Apps available for download from the Firefox Marketplace include eBay, Badoo, Terra, KAYAK, The Weather Channel, TMZ, AOL, Wikipedia, CNNMoney, Huffington Post, TIME, Airbnb, Time Out, and SoundCloud.
