ByinPhones Without Contract | July 20, 2014

Xperia Z2Early this year Sony announced launching the Sony Xperia Z2 to the US market during this summer. And the company seems to keep their promise, since it’s second half of July and the Xperia Z2 has become available in the US for $699 via Sony online store. The device goes on sale unlocked, which means that the phone will be compatible with any GSM service provider, such as AT&T, T-Mobile or prepaid Straight Talk.

Sony Xperia Z2 LTE Unlocked Smartphone

Xperia Z2Despite you may certainly not like the price, which is a little whopping, remember that the currently offered price includes a $50 discount and this is no-commitment offer. So, if you eager to put your hands on the handset, there may not be better offer, at least for now.  The product is back-ordered without exact delivery date, but the manufacturer ensures its prospective buyers that they will start shipping soon.

Just to refresh your memory, the predecessor of the fervently awaited Xperia Z3, offers its future owners a 5.2-inch TRILUMINOS display with Live Color LED technology, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 16 GB of the built-in storage that may be expanded up to 128 GB through microSD cards.

Additionally, the device have quite impressive optic features that embrace an award-winning 20.7 – megapixel rear camera, which records video in 4K resolution that is said to be 4x sharper than the full HD, and 2.2- megapixel front-facing one. The Xperia Z2 is also said to give you 19 hours of talk time thanks to its powerful 3,200 mAh battery. If all this doesn’t convince you, the smartphone is also waterproof and dust-resistant, which makes it a perfect handset for all adventure lovers. Furthermore, the manufacturer gives us the right to choose among three variants of the device’s color: black, white and purple.

The offered unlocked model of the Z2 is the international LTE version that supports LTE bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,13,17,20. This makes the device compatible with carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T. Sadly, the mentioned cellular Bands won’t cope with Verizon, which has been speculated to add the Z2 to its offer. But, now, after the new facts came to light, the information on Verizon and the Z2 cooperation appears to be nothing else than just another rumor.

The Z2 went on sale internationally in April, and now just after three months we have the device available on US market. Even if three months seem quite a long time for some of us, it’s undoubtedly the fastest US premiere of Sony’s smartphones. Hope, this will mean a new chapter in the Sony’s US launching policy. But, isn’t it again a little too late? Will the Z2 gain popularity in the US having devices such as  the LG G3 for its rivals? Will its staunch fans help it to stand the test of time?
