Sony’s monster of a smartphone, the huge Xperia Z Ultra is now available for pre-order from Newegg. The retailer offers the phone in two versions. The C6802 model, which has 3G connectivity, is priced at $699.99. The C6806 variant, which comes with support for LTE networks, costs $30 more, that is $729.99. Both models are obviously unlocked and compatible with multiple GSM carriers. The phone will start shipping on October 14.

Unlocked Xperia Z UltraThe Sony Xperia Z Ultra trademark is its size. The phone packs a 6.44-inch Full HD triluminos display, which is just 0.56 inches less than a tablet. The device’s enormous body hides a quad-core, 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 crunching graphics. In terms of memory, the handset offers 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of onboard storage with microSD slot for memory expansion up to 64 GB. Connectivity features include GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with hotspot functionality.

Like most Sony’s products, the Xperia Z Ultra is IP58 certified for dust and water resistance and can withstand submersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The phone is equipped with an 8-megapixel main camera with 16x zoon, auto focus and 1080p video capture. There is also a 2-megapixel camera on the front panel. The device sports a 3,050 mAh battery which, according to the manufacturer, is good for up to 16 hours of talk time, up to 820 hours of standby time, up to 110 hours of music playback time and up to 7 hours of video playback time. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
