Fire PhoneIt’s not a secret that the Amazon Fire Phone fell short of everybody’s expectations. Pretty high price upon release didn’t help either to gain the market. Six months after the device was launched, Amazon finally realized that the pricing wasn’t right and corrected its mistake. Now the unlocked Amazon Fire Phone is on sale for $199 with free Amazon Prime subscription for one year ($99.99 value).

Deal on Unlocked Amazon Fire Phone

Amazon Fire PhoneThe Amazon Fire Phone is a mid-range device sporting a 4.7-inch HD display and powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. The chip may not be the latest, but it should be more than enough to provide satisfactory experience, especially since it is accompanied by 2GB of RAM – a decent amount for a phone of this class.

Other key features of the phone include 13-megapixel main camera with multi-frame HDR, auto focus, optical image stabilization and 1080p video capture, 2.1-megepiaxel front-facing camera, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio processing, as well as a 2,400 mAh battery.

What makes the Fire Phone stand out in the crowd is its Dynamic Perspective. It’s a creative technology which makes use of an array of sensors placed around the screen to allow users interact with the phone in a way it wasn’t possible before, or at least such was the developers intention. In reality, the technology is less impressive than it sounds, but it makes using the phone more fun. As does Firefly which can identify printed text, recognize household items, songs, movies and TV episodes, translate written French, Spanish, Italian, and German text into English and much more.

Objectively speaking, the Fire Phone is not a bad handset at all. Part of the problem was that it was touted as some kind of revolutionary device, but it turned out pretty average. For an ordinary phone, however, the Fire was quite expensive. Now, for $199 unlocked and with one year of Amazon Prime for free which otherwise costs $99.99, it might be an interesting choice for folks who don’t have very high expectations and like to shop on Amazon. A big bonus is that the phone is unlocked and will work on any GSM network such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Straight Talk, Metro PCS, and Cricket Wireless among others.
