T-Mobile made available its new UNcarrier plans two days earlier than expected. A big media event is still scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, but new no-contract plans are already live on T-Mobile’s website. The new Value Plan can be purchased from carrier’s stores, while the new Classic Plan awaits you at such retailers as Target, or Best Buy. As for the pricing for both plans, it is basically the same, the only difference being how you purchase a new phone.
Classic Plan vs. Value Plan vs. UNcarrier Plan.
As far as we know, the new plans will be similar to the current system. If you choose the Classic Plan, you will be able to get a subsidized phone with a two-year contract, whereas the Value Plan will require a down payment and paying off the phone through Equipment Installment Plan. However, this piece of information was not confirmed by T-Mobile yet. The UNcarrier Plans start at $50 and include unlimited talk, text and 500 MB of data with access to HotSpot feature. What is important, if you use more that 500 MB of data, you will not be charged more, but your data speed will be slowed to 2G for the reminder of the billing period.
Additional 2 GB of data costs $10 and you can purchase up to 12 GB for $110 total per month. There is also an option if you do not need Wi-Fi hotspot tethering on your phone. You can choose unlimited talk, text and data for $70 per month, but you will not be able to use the hotspot feature and share internet connection with other mobile devices.
