Don’t know what to buy for holidays? These top-notch smartphones will make perfect gifts.
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
Apple’s smartphones have always enjoyed great popularity despite being pretty expensive and this year’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are absolutely the best the Cupertino company ever made even though upgrades over the S6 and S6 Plus are rather minor. However, in smart technology market every little improvement counts. In the case of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus the upgrades include IP67 certification for dust and water resistance, more RAM, faster processor, stereo speakers and more capacious battery which offers great battery life, especially in the larger model. One detail that could be somewhat disappointing is ditching the headphone jack, but since Apple includes an adapter and a pair of Lightning earbuds, it’s not really an issue.
Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL
Google has made a few smartphones in the past, but the Pixels are the googliest the company ever released. Worth noting is the fact that the Pixels come in two screen sizes (5 inches and 5.5 inches) but other than that both models are exactly the same. It’s unprecedented, since every time a company launches a more compact model, it’s always slightly downgraded in terms of other specs not only screen size. As for Pixel specs, they include Snapdragon 821 chip, 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 128GB of internal memory, 12.3-megapixel main and 8-megapixel selfie cameras and Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The regular Pixel is currently priced as $649 and $749, while the XL variant costs $769 and $869 for the 32GB and 128GB model, respectively.
Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge belong to Samsung’s signature lineup and have been bringing joy to millions of users for many years now. Both models pack absolutely top of the line features which include stunning, sharp screen with additional functionality in the case of the Edge variant, fast and efficient processor, lots of RAM and built-in memory, great cameras, dust and water resistance as well as responsive fingerprint scanners and advanced Samsung Pay support.
Motorola Moto Z and Z Force Droid
If you were thinking that Motorola has been resting on laurels lately, you will change your mind as soon as you take the Moto Z or Z Force Droid in your hand. Both phones are very pleasing to the eye and sport top-notch hardware such as super capacious battery. Moreover, both come with unique modular design which allows you to add accessories by simply snapping them on the back thanks to magnetic pins. This way, you don’t have to take your phone apart and yet you can customize it to your liking. The Z Force Droid, which is Verizon exclusive, also offers shatterproof display in addition to water repellent nano-coating which is on the Moto Z too. The Moto Z can be had as for $699 in unlocked flavor, while the Z Force Droid is available for $720 (32GB) and $770 (64GB) from Verizon.
The V20 is LG’s best smartphone, hands down. The company took the most appreciated features of the G5 and V10 and mixed them together with a tweak here and there to make a device that is both stunning in appearance and performance. The LG V20 offers a large secondary display above the main screen, dual cameras on the back (the second one being wide-angle), wide-angle selfie sensor, IR transmitter and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Moreover, it runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
