Compared to tablet-like device with monstrous screens, Apple’s phones appear to be of wee size. With the iPhone 5, Apple finally crossed that magical 4-inch mark, but the screens dimensions are still well beyond average for a high-end smartphone. Apple seems to believe that there is much more to a premium smartphone than a big screen, but iPhone users sure would welcome an upgrade in this respect.
Larger iPhone 6 may finally become a reality
According to the latest news, an iPhone with a larger screen may finally become a reality. Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek claims that Apple’s next handset, the iPhone 6, will come with a 4.8-inch display. If true, it would mean a healthy improvement over the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S.
We strongly emphasize the “if” part, because at the moment, the news is nothing more that just a rumor. It does not sound too far-fetched, though. This year’s iPhone 5S is almost identical to the iPhone 5. The iPhone 6 is scheduled to arrive next year, two years after Apple’s last big re-design, making it a perfect time for a makeover.
Peter Misek did not disclose the source of his information, but he has a track record of being right about unreleased Apple products. Moreover, he is believed to be one of the best analysts covering Apple currently. His announcement also seems to confirm previous speculations about Apple’s plans to bring the screen closer to a 5-inch mark.
Suffice it to say, that the announcement resulted in 1 per cent increase in Apple shares.
