At today’s pre-IFA show Sony has announced three completely new smartphones that will join the Xperia lineup. The hugely anticipated Sony Xperia Z3 goes official just six months after its predecessor, the Xperia Z2’s premiere, which may be a little frustrating for all those bind with long-term contracts. But, the new flagship smartphone isn’t the only star of the event, Sony has unveiled two more devices, the Xperia Z3 Compact featuring smaller size without the sacrifice and the Xperia E3, which is said to be an entry-level lineup offer.
We don’t know exactly why, but it usually takes manufacturers a few weeks to release mini versions of their flagship phones. Sony, however, is about to change this tradition, or at least this is what we are led to believe by recurring leaks. Earlier this month we stumbled across a report hinting that a miniaturized model of Sony’s upcoming flagship phone, called Xperia Z3 Compact, might go official in August along with the Xperia Z. Now we are hearing it could happen in September at IFA, whatever the case, it won’t be long now and as if to prove that it’s true, the phone just got caught on camera and a leaked list of specs suggests that it could be the next king of the ‘mini’ smartphones.
When the Xperia Z2 was announced at the MWC in February this year, barely six months after the Xperia Z1 launch, Sony promised that the next flagship would arrive within the same timeframe. It’s quite an unusual decision since most manufacturers keep an annual update schedule, but it looks like the Japanese manufacturer didn’t waste its words. The Xperia Z3 is said to go official in August; however, it may not be the only phone coming out of Sony’s factory that month. The Xperia Z3 Compact specs have just leaked out and it appears that the handset may be announced along with the new flagship.
While the Sony Xperia Z2 is conquering the shelves of retailers around the world, the recently leaked photos allegedly presenting the Sony Xperia Z3 along with its compact version are spreading around the Internet. If the pics are real, we may assume that the Sony is continuing their traditional design. The Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are blocky, very austere in its design, but stylish. Let’s take a closer look to see what we can expect from the next Sony’s flagship and its ‘mini’ version.
