When Samsung launches a new device, most of us probably assume that it belongs to the popular Android Galaxy family before learning its name, since it’s the company’s most popular series. Guess what? Samsung just released a new phone and it’s not a Galaxy. In fact, it’s not even an Android phone. It’s a Tizen phone called Z3 and it hit the market in India equipped with Galaxy S3 hardware, a phone dated from 2012.
Samsung has a reason to be proud and celebrate. The first smartphone running Tizen, the Samsung Z1, was launched in January in India and within ten days over 50 thousand units were sold. Six months later that number increased to one million. No wonder that the manufacturer has big plans for its platform. According to the rumors, the next Samsung smartphone running Tizen OS will be called Samsung Z3 SM-Z300H and may go official pretty soon.
