If you were worried that you might not see the LG G Pro 2 until late February, here is a nice surprise for you. The Korean smartphone maker lifted the wraps off of its next flagship phone today, over a week before MWC which as you recall begins February 24th. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the new 5.9-inch LG G Pro 2 phablet, a successor of last year’s G Pro. From what we can say, LG will showcase the device in Barcelona even though it is has become official. Hopefully this is when we may learn about phone’s pricing and availability in stores.
Just last week, we reported that the chances were high that the LG G Pro 2 could be unveiled next month. Now we know for sure that it will be showcased at MWC 2014 because LG itself confirmed the news. As it usually happens, the closer the announcement day, the more rumors and leaks appear and the LG G Pro 2 is no exception. In addition to last week’s set of rumored specs, we now have been treated to photos allegedly portraying the successor of the LG Optimus G Pro.
One month from today the LG Optimus G Pro will be celebrating its first birthday. It’s terribly old, but since LG, like most manufacturers, keeps a one-year update schedule, we can expect a successor very soon. Actually, according to a report from Korean media, the LG G Pro 2 most likely will be announced next month at Mobile World Congress 2014. It’s not that much of a surprise, since the original G Pro was also unveiled at MWC last year.
