Kindle Fire HDDuring the conference, the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said that the Kindle Fire was no longer simply a gadget but a service, and looking at the specs he might be right.

All tablets feature a 10 point capacitive touch high definition color display with IPS (in-plane switching) technology, advanced polarizing filter, and anti-glare technology, so using the tablet outside on a sunny day will no longer be a problem. The reflection issue caused by an air gap between the touch sensor and the LCD was solved simply by using a single piece of glass. The contrast is high, the image is crisp and clear whether your are looking at a magazine, video or webpage and the wide viewing angles allow you to use the tablet comfortably in almost any position. The main difference between these three models is the display size and resolution: 7 inches with a 1280×800 pixel resolution and up to 720p HD video playback for the 7” version and 8.9 inches with a 1920×1200 pixel resolution and up to 1080p HD video playback.

The Kindle Fire HD tablets are powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz for the 7” model and 1.5 GHz for the 8.9” version, with the latter said to have 40% more memory bandwidth even than Tegra 3 guaranteeing faster web browser JavaScript performance. The Kindle Fire is also world’s first tablet using dual-band and dual-antenna, which can give you up to 40% faster downloads and streaming. With most of the Wi-Fi devices operating on the 2.4 GHz band the connection can slow down considerably. The Kindle Fire is automatically switches from the 2.4 GHz to the less frequently used 5 GHz so you can take advantage of better range and less interference. The 8.9” 4G LTE model additionally features the latest 4G LTE technology for ultra-fast mobile broadband, letting you connect to the internet, stream, and download at speeds even faster than Wi-Fi.

The most advanced Android tablet TodayAmazon decided, and quite rightly, that 8 GB for an HD device is definitely not enough so the tablets sport from 16 GB in the 7” and 8.9” model, though 32 GB available in all version to 64 GB in the 8.9” 4G LTE.

To enrich the HD experience even more, the tablets are equipped with dual speakers and the power of Dolby Digital Plus.
