Both slates will be carried by all four major US carries, that is AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. A nice surprise awaits customers opting for the Magenta network. The carrier will be offering 200 MB of free data per month with both new iPads. Unless you are one of those users who download a lot of content from the web, the free data will allow you to stay connected on the go.
Together with the full-sized iPad Air, Apple also announced today the next-generation iPad Mini, dubbed iPad Mini 2. The tablet will go on sale “later in November” with no specific date revealed at this moment. The slate will be available in four memory options. The 16 GB Wi-Fi-only model will cost at $399 and the price will go up to $499, $599 and $699 for the 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants, respectively. Variants with LTE connectivity will bump the price up $130 on each model.
The rumors have been confirmed – Apple will hold a special event on October 22 in San Francisco. We know that because the company started sending out invitations. The invitations actually do not reveal much, only inform us that folks over at Apple “still have a lot to cover”. The invitations are adorned in a colorful leafy patter, which probably is of little importance, unless it refers to a new color scheme introduced with the iPhone 5C.
