The concept of a flexible phone is not a new one, the talking and promises were going back a few years. However, so far it has failed to materialize at least in a sense that most people understand “flexible”. Manufacturers who aspire to make phones that you would be able to bend or roll still have years of hard work ahead of them. The first curved phone, though, became reality a few weeks ago. The company to pioneer the new grounds was Samsung with its Galaxy Round.
With discussions about flexible displays going on for many months, it was more that certain that sooner or later one of the top smartphone manufacturers would launch a device with such a display. It was just a matter of time. The time has come and it is Samsung that did it. The first smartphone ever with a curved display is called the Samsung Galaxy Round and is arriving at stores today. For the time being, the phone will be available only from SK Telecom in South Korea. Priced at ₩1,089,000, which is around $1000.
