Right now Sprint is the only one of the US major carriers not offering any Windows 8 phones. Actually, Sprint customers could have a taste of the Windows 7 platform with the HTC Arrive, but there is no doubt that the almost non-existent WP portfolio needs refreshing. According to the report, the carrier will start offering two Windows 8 smartphones this summer – the Samsung Ativ S and yet-to-be-announced HTC Tiara. Both phones should be available in May or June.
Samsung’s first Windows Phone 8 smartphone – the ATIV S comes with a lot of uncertainly. The launch date was changed a few times already and still there is no word on when exactly the handset will arrive. Recently we came across rumors that it will see the light of day as late as February 2013, but it looks like it may not be true. According to different sources, Samsung has sent a note saying the device will be launched later this month. Carriers in Canada are ready to start selling the ATIV S and the handset has already appeared in promotional materials. As of now, we found unlocked version of the Samsung ATIV S at Expansys for $649.99.
