Huawei Ascend W1 has been spotted at Walmart store at price $229.88

The device showed up in a store in Alabama sporting a price tag of $229.88. For the time being, the Huawei W1 is still not available on the retailer’s website, so you might want to check the inventory before you grab your wallet and march down to your local Walmart store. The phone is paired with a $45 per month Smart Plan on Straight Talk prepaid service which includes unlimited talk, text and data with no contract obligations.

The device was introduced at CES 2013 and has already been launched in various markets, except the US. however, this will change very soon. Huawei revealed that it will offer the W1 to American customers later this month. You will be able to purchase the phone from Walmart online store and in “select” physical stores. The Huawei W1 will arrive at the US shore unlocked and in prepaid form. Neither Huawei nor Walmart disclosed how much the phone will cost, but promised that its price will be competitive to other similar offerings.

Ascend W1Huawei’s first Windows Phone, the Ascend W1, will be available in the US soon. The handset appeared at the FCC and took us by surprise with the carrier selection. If you were expecting Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile to get it, you will be disappointed. The second line of carriers, including C Spire, US Cellular, or Metro PCS will not be carrying the device either. The Huawei Ascend W1 will land instead at TracFone Wireless, and more specifically at its Net10 brand.

Huawei Ascend W1 Blue Windows 8

The Huawei Ascend W1 was expected to hit the stores in late 2012, but according to the latest rumors it will be officially unveiled at CES in early January 2013. It will be Huawei’s first smartphone to come with Windows Phone 8. The leaked photos show a Nokia-ish blue device with a HTC-ish camera housing and overall handsome design.
