T-Mobile’s new prepaid service GoSmart was initially launched in nine markets in December for a test period. The carrier must have been content with the results since today it launched the service nationwide. GoSmart Mobile is aimed at those customers who prefer not to be locked into a contract and who want to avoid high monthly costs without sacrificing in their mobile usage. The target group are those who make annually between $30k and $40k, as well as the younger consumer crowd that spends most of their mobile usage texting and checking Facebook.
Introducing T-Mobile GoSmart Prepaid Service.
GoSmart Mobile prepaid service is offering plans that start at $30 a month for unlimited talk and text. If you pay $5 more, in addition to unlimited talk and text you will also get unlimited data access at slower speeds for things like checking email. The most expensive plan is $45 a month and includes unlimited talk text and 5 GB of data at 3G speed for watching videos and streaming music on the go.
GoSmart runs on T-Mobile’s own network and requires you to purchase an $8 activation kit with a SIM card. You can use your own handset with the service or choose one of phones offered by the carrier – a $49 Alcatel One Touch 838 messaging phone or a $99 low-end Android smartphone – ZTE V768 running Gingerbread.
