Up until now, T-Mobile was the only one of the major US carriers not to have the Apple iPhones on its offer. However, it will change soon. At a media event today in New York, the carrier announced that it will follow in the footsteps of AT&T, Verizon and Sprint and start offering the iPhone 5 starting April 12. If you do not want to miss the date, go to T-Mobile’s sign up page and the carrier will notify you when the phone is available.
T-Mobile iPhone 5 – What you should know.
T-Mobile will be selling the iPhone 5 on slightly different conditions than other carriers. You can either pay the full retail price of the handset or choose to enter the installment plan. In this case, the carrier will charge you $99 up-front for the 16 GB iPhone 5 and the remaining cost will be spread over the period of 20 months. You will be paying an additional $20 per month for almost two years until the handset is paid off. Total cost will amount to $579, which is $70 less than what Apple is currently asking for the phone.
The Apple iPhone 5 will be sold with T-Mobile’s new No-contract wireless plans which offer 500 MB of 4G data for $50, plus unlimited talk and text. The handset will support AWS HSPA+ as well as 4G LTE, and HD voice. T-Mobile will also offer the iPhone 4 and S4 but the older versions will not support LTE. T-Mobile network has been iPhone-friendly for some time now and the addition of T-Mobile branded iPhones to the offer is certainly a positive move.
