What can you do when the sale of your product is not as high as you would want it to be? Well, start selling it cheaper, obviously. This is exactly what Microsoft is going to do with its Surface RT tablet. Starting today, the 32 GB model of the Windows tablet will be available at Staples for just $349. This is a very generous cut of a whopping $150. The 64 GB version will also sport a new price tag of $449. If you want the tablet with Touch Cover, the price will go up to $449 and $549 for the 32 GB and 64 GB variants, respectively.
Deals on 32GB and 64GB Surface RT Tablets
The Surface RT Windows tablet has been on the market for over eight months now, and it is no secret that it is not very popular among tablet users. Within five months, Microsoft managed to sold 1.1 million units, which is not a very impressive result considering sales rates of other devices. The new price of the 32 GB model of the Surface RT will be just $20 higher than the 16 GB iPad Mini. The money will land you a screen bigger by two inches and double the storage capacity.
So far so good. So why is Microsoft having problems with moving inventory? The reason may be the tablet’s quirky software called Windows RT. The OS, designed to look like Windows 8, is a far cry from Microsoft latest platform. If you are able to overlook such inconveniences as poor selection of apps, you may actually be very content with the Surface RT and its 1.6-inch ClearType HD display, quad-core NVIDIA Tegra T30 chip, 2 GB of RAM, and solid battery life.
