The Microsoft Surface 2 LTE supports 850/900/1800/1900 2G bands, 3G UMTS (bands 1,2, 5) and LTE (bands 4, 7, 17). You may have noticed that some of the bands, namely LTE band 4 and 1900MHz, are also shared by T-Mobile, which suggests that the Surface 2 LTE is unlocked will work on both carriers. It will, but before you go for the Magenta network you should be aware of one thing. T-Mobile doesn’t officially support the tablet so updates and bug fixes are off the table.
Other than cellular connectivity, the Surface 2 with LTE data is identical to the Wi-Fi model. The tablet packs the same 10.6-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and a pixel density of 208 ppi and is powered by the same quad-core 1.7GHz Tegra 4 processor. Other features include 2 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory, 5-megapixel rear camera, 3.5-megapixel front-facing camera and a battery which should provide up to 10 hours of usage time. The Microsoft Surface 2 LTE runs Windows 8.1 RT.
