If you were thinking about becoming a Boost Mobile customer, we have some good news for you. Being Sprint’s prepaid subsidiary, Boost Mobile is a pretty low-cost carrier as it is and it’s about to get even cheaper thanks to new discounts which were just announced. In addition, the company also introduced new family plans, and a few free phones were added to the portfolio.
Boost Mobile made a big announcement regarding new family plans, discounts and free phones.
As far as the discount is concerned, Boost Mobile will knock $5 off your monthly bill if you are willing to watch ads on your phone. Actually, it’s much less time consuming than it sounds and of course you don’t have to sit with your eye glued to the screen to get the credit. In fact, all you have to do is install an app called Boost Dealz which was developed in cooperation with an Australian startup Unlockd. The app will display ads and special deals on your lock screen and if what you see sparks your interest, you can tap for more information. You can also “like” or “dislike” the content that is showcased.
A few details regarding the app are still missing, though. For example, for now it’s unknown whether ads will be displayed each time you lock your phone, or just every once in a while. Installing the app doesn’t come with any commitment whatsoever. Ads can get pretty annoying, so if at some point you decide that you no longer want to see them, you can delete the app, no questions asked. Of course, in such case you won’t be eligible for the $5 discount anymore.
In addition to the Boost Dealz discount, Boost Mobile also announced two new family plans. The main difference compared to the old ones is that each phone line now has its own allotment of data – 1.5GB or 5GB, depending on which plan you opt for. For comparison, the majority of family plans give a monthly data bucket to share between all the lines. Pricing starts at $70 per month ($35 per line) and depends on how many lines you want to have. The 1.5GB plan costs $70 ($35 per line), $90 ($30 per line) and $100 ($25 per line) per month for two, three and four lines, respectively. The 5GB plan will set you back $70 ($35 per line), $95 ($31.67 per line) and $120 ($30 per line) per month for two, three and four lines, respectively.
Boost Mobile also added a bunch of free phones to the offer. This deal is aimed at customers who opt for a family plan and allows them to grab one free phone for every two lines added to the plan. You can choose from five devices, namely the Alcatel OneTouch Elevate, Motorola Moto E, LG Tribute, LG Tribute 2 and ZTE Speed. Keep in mind, though, that this is a limited time promotion and it expires on April 5th.
Roaming in Mexico
Last but not least, Boost Mobile plans now work also in Mexico. It means that you will get unlimited talk and text to and from Mexico, as well as up to 8GB of roaming data, all these for a $5 per month rate.
Boost’s latest changes take care not only of individual customers but also those who are on family plans. Moreover, there seem to be no catches at all, which is rare these days. All in all, it seems like a pretty great way to kick off new year.
