Even though it doesn’t seem like there is a decrease in demand for wireless services and a significant portion of the population owns more than one phone and carriers go out of their way to score new subscribers. The incentives vary in shapes and forms – some carriers are even willing to give customers money. For example Sprint today will pay T-Mobile customers at least $200 trade-in value for their phones.
Sprint trade-in program for T-Mobile subscribers
Back in December 2014 Sprint launched its “Cut Your Bill in Half” promotion which, as the name suggests, targeted users who signed contracts with AT&T or Verizon. You would think that T-Mobile would be safe, since the network no longer sells on-contract plans. Sprint, however, found a way to pull Magenta customers to its own backyard. Starting today and through April 9th Sprint will offer guaranteed minimum trade-in credit of $200 for a T-Mobile smartphone.
Sprint doesn’t specify which phones it will be accepting so apparently you don’t have to worry about the brand. The only condition is that the device needs to be in good shape, that is working. Even if you have an old T-Mobile handset, you will still get the $200 credit. Newer smartphones will most likely land you more money. In order to take advantage of the deal, T-Mobile subscribers will also have to port their number to Sprint. This deal can be combined with another offer from Sprint that gives those switching to the mobile operator as much as $350 per line in a prepaid or gift card.
It goes without saying that trade-in programs are a great way of saving money. Users, however, are not the only ones who benefit from such programs. Most of the phones customers trade in are refurbished and go back to the market as certified pre-owned phones. This way carriers can save lots of money since they don’t have to purchase new phones, and users can buy great device in good condition at much lower prices. Not the mention all the benefits for natural environment. Sprint’s trade-in program is considered the best amongst the four major US carriers and allowed the network to save $1 billion.
If you are T-Mobile customer, you can help increase the number.
