Sprint may launch tomorrow the extreme Sharp Aquos Crystal phone sporting compact design with almost no bezels
Today is the day of great news in the mobile business. Firstly, we learnt about the upcoming Sprint event in New York that is scheduled for tomorrow. The event invitation says “take the edge off” and is illustrated with shimmering crystals, which in turn lead us to the second great revelation of this week, which is announcement of launching outstandingly beautiful smartphones: the Sharp Aquos Crystal and Sharp Aquos Crystal X. The first one is said to be added to the U.S carrier Sprint list of offerings. The Japanese carrier SoftBank (the one who practically owns Sprint) published a teaser video presenting the Sharp Aquos Crystal as a first smartphone with almost no bezels.
Sharp Aquos Crystal – A Phone Without Bezels
Speaking of the Sharp Aquos Crystal design, it should be mentioned that the phone features 5-inch 720p display with almost no bezels which in terms of size makes the device more like 4.5-inch phone. Due to the almost invisible side and top bezels, the measuring only 131 mm in height, 65 mm in width with thickness of only 10mm, new Sharp Aquos Crystal appears to be a really compact handset.
As it comes to tech specs, the smartphone houses the 1.2 GHz LTE-capable quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC processor with 1.5 GHz RAM and 8GB of built-in expendable via microSD cards storage. It runs the Android 4.4.2 out of box and is powered by 2,040 mAh battery. What’s more, the phone sports Harman Kardon sound effects engine with the “Clari-Fi” function, “LiveStage” streaming. Additionally, it is compatible with the Harman Cardon ONYX Studio Bluetooth speaker.
Concluding, the Sharp Aquos Crystal is definitely a superior player in terms of good look, but nothing more than a mid-range product when speaking of its tech parameters.
Tomorrow we will see the first clearly visible fruits of Sprints buyout in the form of frame-less Sharp Aquos Crystal launching, which maybe wouldn’t be so exciting if it weren’t for the fact that all high tech and good looking Sharp-made phones never, ever hit the US market. So, the first US premiere of the superb Sharp smartphone will definitely be an important event.
The Aquos Crystal is said to officially go on sale on August 29, with pre-orders beginning tomorrow. Sadly, there still no details on the price tag, perhaps tomorrow’s conference unveiled some info on it.
The second mentioned phone, the Sharp Aquos Crystal X, which as for now is the Japanese-only flagship version of the basic Aquos Crystal, features the 5.5-inch 1080p display (which makes it measure 139mm x 73mm x 11mm), the 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with 32GB of the built-in storage space. All these is powered by a 2610mAh battery. Time will show whether this bigger, upgraded version of the Sharp Aquos Crystal will also become available on the US market, what is highly probable thanks to Sprint and SoftBank “merger.”
While waiting for tomorrow’s great Sprint unveiling in New York, feast your eyes on watching the high-quality photos and promotional video of the Sharp Aquos Crystal. You certainly can’t take your eyes off this stunning handset.
