It looks like the new 9.7-inch affordable iPad isn’t the only surprise Apple prepared for its customers today. Without any earlier announcement and barely no fanfare the company introduced a new color option to the iPhone 7 line. The new color hasn’t been chosen by accident, the Cupertino-based manufacturer decided to expand the iPhone 7 lineup by red model to support (RED) AIDS fundraising campaign.
To celebrate the world’s AIDS day, Apple releases a new color option of its flagship iPhones. The Red iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will hit stores as soon as this Friday.
Those familiar with the topic known that this isn’t the Apple’s first red-hued device (the first one was the red variant of the iPod), since the manufacturer has been cooperating with AIDS Charity Product Red for the last ten years. So far the company has donated a percentage of their sales worth more than $130 million to fight HIV and AIDS and deliver AIDS-free generation. Truth to be told the latest iPhone is far a more substantial charitable contribution than a wireless headphones or any other gadgets.
The new red-themed iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus both sport a red aluminum finish and pack exactly the same flagship specs as the original models. The last color change made within the iPhone portfolio involved a rose gold alternative for the iPhone 6S and a new glossy jet black finish for the iPhone 7.
The (RED) iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be accessible in two storage options. You can choose between 128GB and 256GB models. Pricing for the Special Edition of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 starts at $749, while in the case of the bigger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus – at $869. Although the devices are pretty expensive, remember that the goal is laudable. Although right now both handsets are listed as unavailable in Apple Store, they will go up for sale globally on March 24. You can buy them visiting your local Apple dealer or simply hit the company’s online store.
Other than that Apple has also shared the news they will expand its silicone and leather cases lineup. The silicon case in now available in azure, camellia and pebble. Meanwhile, those opting for a leather one may pick among sapphire, taupe and berry color variants whose pricing starts at $35. Those of you who want to score one of the red iPhones need to act fast as their supply is limited and no one knows how long exactly they will be available on the market.
