Though previous rumors implying that Sony wants to abandon its traditional launch strategy might be confusing, the latest leaks show that the Japanese electronic giant isn’t planning to give up their two-flagships-per-year policy. Just right now, after few months since the release the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact, the web is being showered with leaks concerning new devices joining the Xperia lineup. Some rumors suggest that Sony will introduce a full Z4 lineup including the Xperia Z4 flagship, its mini version – Xperia Z4 Compact, and phablet called Xperia Z4 Ultra and the Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Sony Xperia Z4 Flagship Smartphone
Starting from the flagship model, the Sony Xperia Z4, aside all the specification that have already leaked before (like for example: Snapdragon 810 paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB of built-in storage), will feature a new charging solution. The company, trying to solve the problem of messy cable input that occurs in older generation smartphones, allegedly wants to equip the upcoming Xperia with Qi wireless charging.
There will be also no plastic caps protecting the ports, because some users claim that with time it isn’t as hermetic as it used to be out-of-box what in turn makes the phone less waterproof. But even without these caps, the phone will still carry the IP68 certification tag. In other words, the new Xperia Z4 will be able to survive being buried 4.9 feet deep water for 30 minutes. In comparison, this is pretty much the same waterproof capacity that we may found in the HTC Butterfly 2 with the difference lying in the Butterfly 2’s open ports with circuit protection
Sony Xperia Z4 Compact
Moving on to the Sony Xperia Z4 Compact, the Xperia Z4 little brother is said to sport a 4.6-inch display but with significantly increased resolution, which means that instead of a traditional 720p resolution featured by previous compact models, the phone will receive a 1080p screen resolution. Furthermore, the phone is expected to use the same chipset as the bigger flagship.
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
Speaking of the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, he slate is said to come back to the well-known 10.1-inch screen with 1440p QHD (but there is rumor on the street saying that Sony will put all their efforts to equip the Z4 Tab with 4K (2160p) resolution display. And since the manufacturer’s currently available tablets feature 1920x1299p, the first mentioned resolution option seems to be more probable.
Going deeper into the slate’s specs, the device is reported to be powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB of native storage, just as the Z4 flagship. In terms of optics, the device camera parameters will increase to 13-megapixel unit in case of rear sensor and to 8-megapixel as it comes to the front-facing cam. Additionally, despite carrying thinner bezels, the device will still house front stereo speakers.
Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra Phablet
The last discussed today new Xperia family member, the Xperia Z4 Ultra is allegedly said to have the known from previous gen Z Ultra line 6.4-inch screen, but the resolution will get a great bump up to 2160 pixels.
Knowing that in the mobile industry everything can change within few seconds, we shouldn’t forget that until the Sony Xperia Z4 line official announcement every leak is nothing more than a rumor.
