At today’s pre-IFA show Sony has announced three completely new smartphones that will join the Xperia lineup. The hugely anticipated Sony Xperia Z3 goes official just six months after its predecessor, the Xperia Z2’s premiere, which may be a little frustrating for all those bind with long-term contracts. But, the new flagship smartphone isn’t the only star of the event, Sony has unveiled two more devices, the Xperia Z3 Compact featuring smaller size without the sacrifice and the Xperia E3, which is said to be an entry-level lineup offer.
Sony Xperia Z3 Flagship Smartphone
The Sony Xperia Z3 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display which thanks to the Triluminous technology can adapt brightness and contrast on the pixel-by pixel basis enabling better viewing in sharp sunlight. The phone works on Android 4.4 and runs a quad-core 2.5 GHz MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz and coupled with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics.
Measuring 7.3mm thick body, the Xperia Z3 is thinner than the Z2’s 8.2 mm body, what’s more the manufacturer somehow succeeded in cutting about 1 mm from the phone’s all dimensions, and reduce its weight by 11 grams. Even though, the tiny body somehow managed to house a pretty powerful 3,100 mAh battery, which according to manufacturer, should deliver two days of use without being charged.
Another change in the body design can be noticed in the body’s round form factor. There is also the Sony’s well-known Omnibalance look that has been enhanced by the top quality aluminum frame with curved edges to finish the glass front and back panels. Additionally, the phone is labeled with IP65 certification tag, which means that it is water and dust resistant.
Speaking of the Xperia Z3’s optics, the smartphone is equipped with a superior 20.7-megapixel Exmor sensor accompanied by wide-angle 25 mm lens and 4k video recording with access to the outshining many full-size DSLR cameras 12,800 ISO rating for low light.
The phone will be available in traditional white and black color flavors, as well as in more sophisticated copper and silver-green options.
Xperia Z3 Compact – Best of the ‘Mini’ Flagships
If you think of buying something smaller, the Sony has also a perfect offer for you. Though noticeably smaller, the Xperia Z3 Compact is almost identical with the Z3’s regular version in terms of specs, including its powerful processor and graphic chip. But, obviously it comes with smaller measuring only 4.6-inch display with 720p, which is still 0.3-inch bigger than in the case of the Xperia Z1 Compact version.
Although the Triluminous technology and 20.7-megapixel rear shooter are also under the Z3 Compact’s hood, it features weaker 2,600 mAh battery and only 2GB RAM. The phone is said to hit the market in white, black, green and orange color variants, which are described as more “youthful” than those of the Xperia Z3.
Sony Xperia E3 Cheap LTE Smartphone
And last but not least, the Sony Xperia E3 which is hailed as the company’s cheapest smartphone supporting 4G LTE connectivity. While interested in lowering price, the manufacturer had to make many compromises in the phone’s design and specs. So, the Xperia E3 sports 4.5-inch 480 x 854px display, quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, and Adreno 305 graphics.
Other features include a 5-megapixel rear camera with additional 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage, all these powered by a relatively massive as for this price sector 2,330 mAh battery. The smartphone will goes on sale in exclusively yellow color versions.
The unveiled today new the Sony’s Xperia 3 series will become official later this month along with the budget-friendly Xperia E3. Sadly, so far we have no hint so as to their price tags, but we may assume that the Xperia Z3 may cost something round $600-700 which is a standard pricing as for such quality flagships.
