We first hear about the Sony D6503 last month before Christmas when a list of upcoming Sony phones and tablets appeared. The device, codenamed Sirius, is believed to be the successor of the Sony Xperia Z1 and might hit the market with the name Xperia Z2. Rumors place announcement date of the Sirius at Mobile World Congress 2014 and judging by the recent surge of leaks, it might as well be true.
Sony Xperia Z2 aka Sirius – What do we know…
Thanks to iRimas from XDA in addition to rumors and leaks we now also have a set of photos showing the Xperia Z2 from almost every possible angle. We can see that the device looks a lot like the Xperia Z1, though if you look closer you can notice a few differences here and there.
The bezels are thinner than the Xperia Z1, and since measurements of both phones are allegedly identical, it can only mean a slightly bigger screen. Also, ports and slots are placed differently and the speaker was redesigned to feature three rather large holes.
It looks like in terms of hardware the Xperia Z2 will not be a dramatic upgrade over the Xperia Z1, but some of the key specs are indeed improved.
Apparently, the phone sports a 5.2-inch 1080p Full HD display and is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (MSM8974AB) with Adreno 330 responsible for graphics. There is 3 GB of RAM on board along with a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone will arrive running the latest version of Android that is 4.4 KitKat.
