We knew that it would be available in the US at some point too, but it sure took its sweet time to make it across the ocean. The carrier began accepting pre-orders this week so if you secure a unit now, you can rest assured that you will be among the first users who will get their hands on the device when it starts shipping on July 17th.

Successor of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, the Xperia Z2 Tablet 4G LTE is not what you would call a rugged device but it’s far more durable that your average tablet thanks to IP58 certification which is a guarantees that the slate won’t suffer any damage even after it has spend up to 30 minutes in up to 4.9 feet of water. Moreover, the tablet is dustproof and scratch resistant making it a perfect companion for a camping trip. Another big plus is its slim and lightweight construction – the tablet is just 0.25 inches thick and weighs in at only 0.97 pounds.

The Xperia Z2’s 10.1-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display is covered with scratch-resistant tempered glass and features the latest Sony BRAVIA TV technology which ensures rich colors and great contrast. The tablet is powered by a quad-core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which is supported by 3 GB of RAM. The device comes with 32 GB of internal memory on board and has a microSD slot for storage expansion up to 128 GB.

The tablet is also equipped with an 8.1-megapixel Exmor rear camera and a 2.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, both of which are capable of 1080p video capture. Other features include enhanced protection for enterprise and government accounts, digital noise–canceling support, 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 6,000 mAh battery with STAMINA mode to improve battery performance.
