The Sony Xperia Z1s was announced a while ago in Japan as the Xperia Z1f, however, it was unclear whether the phone would ever be available for purchase outside of the Japanese territory. Thanks to a new leak, we almost certainly know that the mini version of Sony’s flagship smartphone will me making a trip to other markets too. When? Based on the recent rumors, the November 26th is the expected release date. For how much? This question remains still unanswered at the moment, however, we are hoping to get the details rather sooner than later.
Xperia Z1 Mini to be as powerful as Xperia Z1
The leaked images present a device looking just like the Japanese version but with Sony’s logo above the screen. A quick peek into the about screen reveals a model number D5503, which is yet another hint that the phone we are looking at is the international version. For the record, the NTT DoCoMo model comes with model number SO-02F. The phone was photographed with a ruler placed right next to it confirms that the dimensions are smaller than those of the Xperia Z1.
We must admit, that the phone itself is an interesting entity. Usually a “Mini” variant is mini in most key areas not only the size, but hardware and specs too. There is always an exception to any rule, though, and yes, the Xperia Z1s may be that exception. Despite the smaller 4.3-inch 720p display, the Xperia Z1s will be as powerful as its bigger brother.
It means that in the smaller form you will be getting a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, a massive 20.7-megapixel camera, and 16 GB of internal storage with microSD card support all packed up into a more compact body. We also expect the Sony Xperia Z1s will be waterproof, shock and dust resistant.
