Sony Xperia XZ Premium powered by the best processor ever made has gotten official at MWC in Barcelona
Since we’re in the middle of the Mobile World Congress, each day means premieres of new fantastic devices. Today the show was stolen by Sony. The company introduced a brand new smartphone with an ultra-sharp display and the Qualcomm’s fastest processor. Called Sony Xperia ZX Premium, the phablet is the top-end flagship for 2017, which except for a beautiful slim metal body offers its users several really inspiring features
Sony has just unveiled its flagship for 2017. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the world’s first phone to offer 4K HDR screen panel and the fastest Snapdragon 835 processor.
Launched earlier today the Xperia XZ Premium is the first phone in the world to house a 4K HDR (2,160 x 3,840, High Dynamic Range) display. The panel is the most-wanted new tech combo design with TV sets in mind, however Sony somehow managed to cram such a powerful display in a slim phone shell. Although the released along with the Xperia Z5 Premium 4K display isn’t a completely new technology, this time due to Sony’s partnership with Amazon for 4K HDR content the HDR element delivers extremely faithful color reproduction. We will receive more realistic and warmer colors with more natural yellow tones.
Motion Eye Camera System
Apart from the high-definition display, Sony’s latest flagship arrives with a new camera system named Motion Eye. The biggest revolution about this tech is that the manufacturer embedded fast memory straight into the camera stack, introducing super-slow motion of 960fps at 720 p of resolution to the mobile industry. In practice it means that the sensor is capturing about 180 frames in a rapid burst of 0.18 seconds, delivering sharp photos of blink-of-an-eye movements. The primary camera is a 19MP sensor, while a 13MP front facing shooter with a wide angle lens takes care for wonderfully bright selfies. Furthermore, beside the Motion Eye system Sony is also bringing back the triple-sensor system previously known from the Xperia XZ, including laser autofocus, and an RGBC infrared sensor for perfect white balance and revamped ExmorRS image sensor.
Running Android 7.1 Nougat the XZ Premium is also one of the world’s first phone to debut with the Snapdragon 835 processor on the board. The Qualcomm’s fastest flagship processor comes coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of built in storage with microSD expansion. Powered by a 3,230 mAh battery, the device arrives dressed in an eye-catching slim metal unibody certified with IP68-ratings for water and dust resistance, and features a fingerprint scanner for improved data protection. Unfortunately, this feature has been excluded from the model designed for the US market.
The premium quality Xperia XZ Premium isn’t the only high class device Sony unveiled today. In fact the phablet debuted accompanied by a smaller Xperia XZs. Just as the released yesterday LG G6, the phone works on the Snapdragon 820 paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, optionally. Such computing parameters guarantee smooth Android Nougat performance, while a 5.2-inch 1920x1080p display provides great viewing experience. Like its bigger sibling the Xperia XZs also comes closed in a water and dust resistant body hiding a fingerprint reader (also absent in the US-oriented variant). Kept alive by a 2,900 mAh battery, the handset packs a 13MP camera sporting a wide angle lens and a USB Type-C port.
As for availability and pricing details, so far they pretty much a mystery. The Xperia XZ Premium is scheduled to hit the market in late spring, while the Xperia XZs is expected to go on sale in April. Pricing still needs confirmation.
