Last year’s IFA was a very important event for Sony. In addition to the amazing Xperia Z3, the Japanese company also announced a number of other devices among which there was the Xperia E3 – a more modest companion to the flagship smartphone. Only three months after the E3 went official we started hearing rumors about possible successor being in the works and now the first images of the Xperia E4 leaked out.
Sony Xperia E4 – What to expect
The Sony Xperia E4 revealed itself in two images both showing the phone in cases – one in a black flip cover and the other in an orange case that covers only the back. It looks like Sony refreshed the design a bit, since now the main camera is centered rather than placed close to the side like it was in the Xperia E3.
When it comes to the front panel things get a little problematic because the renders don’t match. One of them is missing the Sony logo and other shows larger top bezel, though both agree on the placement of the front-facing camera and proximity sensor which were moved from the center to the left side.
According to the rumors, the Xperia E4 will still be a lower-mid-range phone (not that we expected anything else) but will bring a few upgrades to the table. First of all, with a 5-inch qHD display it will be bigger than its predecessor by as much as 0.5 inches. It will also double internal memory from 4GB to 8GB. Other rumored features include 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.9-megapiexel selfie sensor and a MediaTek MT6582 processor.
At the moment there is no way of telling how accurate the images are; however, the fact that they are not identical suggests that we should take the news with a pinch of salt. Then again, the images are not actual photographs of the device but just renders and apparently the author was a tad careless. Anyway, MWC is just around the corner and it would be a great opportunity for Sony to present the Xperia E4. When it happens we will report to you all the details.
