Later this month, Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is the place where most major phone manufacturers plan to announce their new flagship devices for 2016. As one of the manufacturers attending, Sony will host a press conference at MWC to announce their new devices possibly including the Xperia C6. The existence of the C6 has not been officially confirmed by Sony, however, earlier in January a few photos surfaced allegedly presenting the existence of the purported device with a bezel-free full HD display.
Purported Xperia C6 with bezel-free display poses to camera.
From the images, it looks like the Xperia C6 bears some resemblance to last year’s Xperia C5 Ultra. Last year’s model was a mid-range handset sporting a near bezel-less 6 inch 1080 pixel display. We don’t know how large the C6 screen will be although it is safe to assume that it more than likely will not be smaller than 5 inches and will feature the 1080 pixel display.
The rendered images suggest that the new Xperia C6 will be available in at least three color variants, coral pink, silver, and metallic gray by the looks of them. Other rumors circulating the internet say that Xperia C6 will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor which offers decent performance at reduced costs therefore keeping this device out of the high-end side of the smartphone market. Similar to the Xperia C5 Ultra, this new device also boasts the rounded metal sides and the side-mounted round power button. Allegedly, the device will not be loaded with a fingerprint scanner but it will be interesting to see which of the specifications are included when the device hits the market.
As for when and where the Xperia C6 will be announced and released, that information is still unknown. One source claims that the phone could be announced at MWC later this month. Based on the rumored specifications and the rendered images, the phone is assumed to go toe-to-toe with other competitors, including the LG G5 and Galaxy S7. The price of the device is still unknown at this time however.
If you’ve toyed around with the idea of getting a new mid-range handset, the Sony Xperia C6 could be one of your top choices. Since not much is yet known about this device, every assumption is based on leaks and hearsay so there can be some significant changes when Sony decides to unveil the device. Just be sure to stay tuned for any updated Xperia C6 news as it becomes available.
