Virgin Mobile has expanded its offer aimed at those customers who are interested in simple and inexpensive phones. The new addition to the portfolio is manufactured by ZTE and is sold under the carrier’s brand as the Virgin Mobile Awe. The handset is up for grabs online and in select stores for a low $99.99. Being a prepaid carrier, Virgin Mobile naturally does not require any contracts so you will not be tied to one carrier for a lengthy period of time. Another advantage is that the device can be paired with Virgin Mobile’s Beyond Talk no-contract plans which start at $35 per month.
ZTE Awe for Virgin Mobile
The Virgin Mobile Awe’s specs are as straight forward as its price. The phone features a 4-inch WVGA display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor, which is more than enough to deliver a decent performance. The device offers 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD slot compatible with up to 32 GB cards. According to Virgin Mobile, the handset’s 1,650 mAh battery is capable of providing juice for up to 11,2 hours of talk time and up to 6,29 days of standby time.
The Virgin Mobile Awe is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera with 720p video capture. If you like to video chat, you will be able to do so thanks to a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. Other features include Wi-Fi and stereo Bluetooth 4.0. Unfortunately, the phone does not support 4G LTE so you will have to make do with 3G connectivity. The device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
