Smartphones are delicate devices that can get damaged easily. Many of you probably know about it from own experience. Rugged phones, on the other hand, are not very handsome, to say at least, and usually offer nothing more than basic functions. And here is where phones such as the Sony Xperia Z and Z1 enter with their awesome hardware and software along with a degree of durability unprecedented in a high-end smartphone. Back in July Samsung released the ruggedized Galaxy S4 Active. The device was largely based on the Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone, however, it was more modest in certain aspects.
Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 Active
Even though the Galaxy S4 Active features a scaled down screen and a smaller camera sensor, customers’ interest in the handset by far exceeded Samsung’s expectations. According to the rumors, that might have been one of the decisive facts in the company’s decision to allegedly set to work on a ruggedized variant of the Galaxy Note 3 phablet. As folks from Korean-based ET News report, the devices, possibly called Galaxy Note 3 Active, would be a fully spec’d phone featuring water and dust resistance right out of the box.
That same source also claims that Samsung next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5 also will be waterproof. Assuming that the rumors are true, it might be a smart move on Samsung’s part. Looking at customers’ response to the Galaxy S4 Active and Sony’s phone, waterproof devices are what users want. And it is understandable since according to statistics, about 30 per cent of damage to the phones is caused by water.
