Participants of this year’s IFA in Berlin sure are impatient. The show has not even officially begun yet and the biggest names in the world of smart devices are already presenting their achievements. After Sony and its Xperia Z1, now it is time for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, a smartwatch that can make phone calls, surf Internet and take photos. The device will go on sale on September 25th in more than 140 countries, according to Sammy’s promise. The Galaxy Gear will be priced at $299 in the US.
Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch
Samsung took a step further with the Galaxy Gear and created a device that is much smarter that the smartwatches we have seen so far. Even though the final product’s specs are somewhat different than what we expected from rumors, the Galaxy Gear still manages to impress us.
The watch measures 1.44 x 2.2 x .44 inches and weights in at 2.6 ounces. The device features a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display with a 320 x 320 resolution and is powered by a single-core 800 MHz Exynos processor paired with 512 MB of RAM. The smartwatch also offers 4 GB of internal memory.
Unlike other smartwatches, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear is equipped with a camera which is placed on a wristband. The 1.9-megapixel shooter features a BSI sensor and autofocus. The watch comes with an assortment of features and services such as Smart Relay, S Voice, Memographer, Voice Memo, Auto Lock, Find My Device, Media Controller, Safety Assistant and more.
The device will be available in six colors including Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green.
