Samsung released full details of an upcoming curved Gear S smartwatch

ByinSmartwatches | August 28, 2014

Samsung Gear SWe didn’t expect it to happen so quickly, but it looks like the rumors on the Samsung’s curved completely standalone smartwatch are true. The company didn’t only confirmed the existence of the Samsung Gear S but also released the list of full specs, which looks quite impressive as for the smartwatch. The Tizen-based wearable gadget is said to hit the market in October.

Samsung Gear S watch that can make and receive phone calls

Samsung Gear SThe released tech specification leaves no shadow of a doubt, the Samsung Gear S will be a pretty powerful smart timepiece. The fervently-ancipated device will house a curved 2.0-inch 360×480  Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1GHz processor paired with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of built-in storage. The Gear S is also said to support Wi-Fi, 2G/3G and Bluetooth connectivity. All these powered by a 300 mAh battery which is reported to deliver two days of normal use. Additionally, the watch will be equipped with a whole package of sensors including a compass, gyroscope, GPS and  heart rate monitor, which makes it close to fitness and health focused devices.

But, the most revolutionary feature of the Gear S is its capability to make and receive calls, due to data connection technology that makes it a completely independent device (Perhaps the Gear S is the mysterious Gear Solo?). The smartwatch will come with a pair of Bluetooth headphones called The Gear Circle, which thanks to special magnetic mechanism can clasp around your neck changing into the weirdest necklaces you have ever worn. The headphones will enable the user to listen to music, communicate with the watch via voice commands, make and receive calls, which sounds like a very convenient solution, don’t you think? Sadly, the set of headphones won’t be an integral part of the handset, they will probably be sold separately.

Going further the smartwatch is labeled with the IP67 certificate, which makes it water and dust resistance. In addition, the Samsung Gear S measures 39.8 x 58.3 x 12.5mm and appears to be a real good-looking gadget but without the opportunity to be customize to the user’s tastes and needs.

The Gear S’s global premiere is scheduled to take place this October. Despite we still have no specific information concerning its pricing, we may be pretty sure that Samsung will share the details with us as soon as they’ll be finalized.
