Galaxy Tab ActiveAfter yesterday’s simultaneous announcement of two phabets, the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung surprises us one more time with unveiling its new heavy duty Galaxy Tab Active tablet that expands the company’s ruggedized horizons. This water and dust, chunky-body 8-inch Android tablet is reported to target the enterprise users and all the adventure lovers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active

Samsung Galaxy Tab ActiveThe slate front side houses an 8-inch 1280 x 800 pixel TFT LCD display that is speculated to be protected by Sapphire Glass or more probable due to economic issues Gorilla Glass. But if the slate is said to be a rugged one, shouldn’t it receive the most durable screen protection? When we move on to the back side, we will see just a most basic 3.1-megapixel camera sporting autofocus and LED flash that is accompanied by a 2.1-megapixel front shooter, which definitely can’t be called selfie-friendly.

Going deeper into the Galaxy Tab Active specs, the phone is said to be powered by a 1.2 Ghz quad-core still unspecified processor (though some of you suggest Snapdragon 400) coupled with 1.5GB RAM and Samsung’s typical 16GB expandable via microSD cards built-in storage.

The tablet sports standard wireless communication options, like WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC. It’s worth mentioning that the device is said to be released in two variants: one WiFi only and other supporting LTE. In the field of software, the slate works on Android 4.4 KitKat accompanied by TouchWiz add-ons and several stylus dedicated apps.

Another quite innovative solution for tablets is introduced by Samsung removable 4,450 mAh battery that allegedly provide 10 hours of use.

The special Protective Cover that is said to protect the slate when dropped from 1.2 m along with additional features like a dockable POGO pin charging option and the KNOX coding system makes the tablet a great companion for all those working in rugged environment. Just to mention the same durable protective layer covers the C-Pen.

Concluding, we can’t expect to get something more than just another decent mid-ranger with super durable body.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active goes on sale in Titanium Green color scheme. Sadly, all we know about the tablet’s availability, launch date and pricing is that they haven been finalized yet.
