It’s not exactly a secret that Samsung in a few days will be announcing the Galaxy S5 successor along with another flagship phone. It would be pretty odd for the next generation Galaxy S phone to be called anything other than Galaxy S6; however, the name hasn’t been confirmed by Samsung so far. Similarly, the second flagship device remains nameless, at least officially. Unofficially, the phone was referred to as Galaxy S6 Edge and it appears that that’s its name as it was just confirmed on AT&T website.
AT&T website confirms Galaxy S6 Edge presence
Yesterday AT&T launched a special site where you can pre-register for information about Samsung’s upcoming phones. It’s not such a huge news, since similar pages are already present on T-Mobile and Sprint websites. However, if you dig a little deeper into AT&T page’s source code, you will discover an interesting detail – it mentions Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge as keywords for SEO ranking purposes. That pretty much dissipates any doubts as to the names of Samsung’s latest handsets.
Samsung’s newest Galaxy phones will be offered by all US major carriers with AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile already allowing customers to pre-register for the handsets. The only carrier that doesn’t have pre-registration page yet is Verizon, however, it’s a just a matter of time until Big Red joins in the fun.
And fun it will be as both phones are rumored to boast top of the line specs including 5.1-inch QHD displays, octa core 64-bit Samsung Exynos 7420 processors, 3GB of RAM, up to 128GB of built-in storage, 20-megapixel rear cameras and 5-megapixel selfie shooters. The main difference between the S6 and S6 Edge will be the latter’s curved display which is expected to be similar to the Note Edge but wrapped around two sides.
All we know about the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge comes from leaks and rumors, however, it won’t be long until we see both phones in all their glory as they are scheduled for official announcement on March 1st at MWC in Barcelona. Of course, as always, we will be keeping tabs on Samsung’s upcoming flagships and will share with you any news that comes our way, so stay tuned.
